WEAPON DUELS Map Guide

Learn Aztec, House, and rotating arenas so pad queues stop feeling random.

Map Guide

Map knowledge separates players who win on purpose from players who win because the lobby felt easy. In WEAPON DUELS (formerly Duel Stars), Twin Comets drops small arena maps into 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, and 4v4 pad queues. Each layout changes whether knives or guns have the advantage, which abilities spike in value, and how teams should rotate. This guide covers confirmed maps — including Aztec from the Aztec Part II (Runic) update and the House map highlighted in recent seasons — plus general lane-reading habits that survive the next patch.

If you have not queued a pad yet, read How to Play and Knife vs Gun first. Map strategy assumes you already swap weapons intentionally.

How map voting works

Most public duels pull from a rotating map pool when matchmaking fills your pad. You do not always pick the arena, so you need a default plan for both tight and open layouts. Private servers or future UI changes may expand voting — check Updates after major patches.

Regardless of map name, classify each arena into three lane types:

Lane typeKnife valueGun valueAbility note
Interior chokeHighLow unless pre-aiming cornersDash and Shroud spike here
Transitional midMediumMediumWeapon Buff wins fair trades
Open plaza / long sightlineLow without coverHighSprint crosses space; sniper shrink settings matter

Every map in WEAPON DUELS mixes at least two lane types. Your job is identifying which third of the arena the fight is happening in before you commit to a swing or peek.

Aztec map (Aztec Part II Runic)

The Aztec arena shipped with the Aztec Part II (Runic) content drop alongside Battle Pass Season 1 and 10+ new items. Twin Comets leaned into stone temples, interior corridors, and outer plazas with diagonal sightlines.

Interior routes favor knife mains who can cut through cover without crossing open ground. Temple turns break gun tracking — use them to force melee range. In 1v1, bait a gun shot by peeking a corner, then collapse during reload or miss recovery.

Outer plazas punish knife rushes that ignore pillars. Gun anchors should hold corners with head-level crosshair placement from the Controls guide. Mobile players: re-test Settings → Mobile sensitivity on long lanes; Aztec plazas expose over-rotation faster than older maps.

Team modes (3v3 / 4v4): Assign roles early. Two gun players hold outer cross angles while one knife player loops interior. Do not send four players through the same choke — ability clutter and friendly knife swings lose rounds.

Pair Aztec-specific loadouts with Knife Builds and Gun Builds after the patch notes on Aztec Part II.

House map

The House map appeared in recent seasonal promotion alongside summer Battle Pass sea-serpent skins. Layout-wise, House maps in duel games usually mean room-to-room clearing, stair angles, and furniture cover — closer quarters than Aztec plazas but more verticality than flat legacy arenas.

Clearing discipline: Slice pie around doorways one angle at a time. Gun players pre-aim head height at door frames; knife players wait for sound cues or teammate tags before diving.

Vertical play: Jump peaks work on stairs but telegraph in 4v4. Use Dash to cancel a bad climb rather than feeding a top-angle gun shot.

Audio and effects: Heavy weapon trails from pass cosmetics can obscure door silhouettes. If you equip flashy Runic or serpent skins, test readability in casual duels before ranked-feeling queues.

Classic / legacy arenas

Before Aztec and House rotations, Duel Stars beta maps tended toward symmetric duel pits — small enough that 1v1 knife trades decided many rounds. These layouts still appear in rotation or private testing:

  • Short sightlines — Favor flexible loadouts; see Best Loadouts.
  • Minimal cover — Gun slightly favored at round start; knife wins require ability-assisted closes.
  • Even spawn distances — First contact timing is predictable; use it for warmup drills.

When you do not recognize the map name, spend the first ten seconds identifying choke vs open zones instead of hard rushing.

Mode-specific map strategy

1v1 — Map control is binary: you either hold the angle that matters or you lose transitional range. Learn one interior path and one retreat path per map.

2v2 — Partner holds gun lane while you knife flank interior, or vice versa. Call out when you break line of sight for swaps.

3v3 — Layer abilities on choke points. Shroud flanks are strongest when two teammates distract front-facing.

4v4 — Split outer and inner zones explicitly. Feeding four players into one plaza is how losing teams donate Stars.

Economy tie-in: Stars per map

Winning on the wrong loadout for a map slows Stars income and delays level 50 progress. If you lose twice on the same map, change weapon role before blaming ping. Farm efficiently using Earn Stars once your map reads improve.

Patch awareness

Twin Comets warns the game is early access with revamps expected. Map collision, spawn points, and props can change overnight. After each banner update:

  1. Play three casual duels on the new map.
  2. Update personal notes in this guide’s lane categories.
  3. Check Updates and Discord for hotfixes.

Practice routine (maps)

Spend one session per map:

  • Drill 1 — 1v1 only, call out lane type aloud each engagement.
  • Drill 2 — 2v2 with a friend; one interior, one exterior role.
  • Drill 3 — Re-watch patch notes on Aztec Part II if Runic items changed sightlines.

Map literacy stacks with code rewards from CodesPew Pew helps gun anchors on open lanes; Purple Pony flexes in knife chokes but is also trade valuable per Trading.

WEAPON DUELS maps are small by design. Learn them once, adjust after patches, and pad queues become a repeatable skill instead of a coin flip.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

What maps exist in WEAPON DUELS?

Confirmed highlights include the Aztec arena from Aztec Part II (Runic) and the House map from recent seasons. More arenas rotate as Twin Comets updates early access.

Which map favors knives vs guns?

Interior chokes favor knives; open plazas and long sightlines favor guns. Aztec mixes both — adapt per lane, not per map name alone.

Did Aztec change the meta?

Yes. Outer plazas reward gun anchors; temple interiors reward knife flanks and mobility abilities like Dash.

How do I learn a new map quickly?

Classify each fight as interior, transitional, or open. Run five 1v1 duels calling lane type aloud before queueing team modes.

Are map guides the same for Dueling Grounds?

No. Dueling Grounds uses different arenas and parry-centric combat. This page is only for WEAPON DUELS by Twin Comets.

Where do I see future map releases?

Follow the Updates hub and official Discord at discord.gg/weaponduels. Twin Comets does not maintain an official Trello.
